Hej igen så här en färgglad höst! Det har gått ett år igen och det är dags för Lilla wappen. Nu kanske du funderar att vad betyder det egentligen. Oroa dej inte jag hjälper till.
Du har kanske hört om wappen eller vappen som är ett mera modernt sätt att skriva det. Ifall du inte vet om wappen ännu så går det att läsa mera om saken här på samma sida. Annars så kommer chansen att uppleva det snabbare än man någonsin skulle tro. Orsaken varför jag nämner Wappen är att det har mycket med saken att göra. Vid Wappen inleder man sommaren och man får rätten att bära studentmössan. Till sommartider hej hej!
Löven är nu dock gula och det är dags att kura ihop sig med en varm kopp kakao (helst med smak av mint…). När mörka och kallare tider lurar runt hörnet är det dags för Lilla Wappen. Lilla Wappen firas sista dagen i september för att fira att hösten har kommit. Vanligtvis firas festen med en lite finare tre rätters middag som ordnas av Åbo Akademis Studentkår tillsammans med fyra föreningar (HF, KK, MK och SF). Festen ordnas i Åbo i vår kära festsal på Kåren. I slutet av kvällen så ber ÅAS styrelseordförande, under ett ledigare tal, att alla studenter sätter mössan upp och ner vilket visar insidan av studentmössan. Insidan av studentmössan är intressant på det sättet att den har olika mönster beroende på vilket landskap du kommer från. Det här för att signalera att sommaren är över och hösten är här. Sen bär studenterna hatten upp och ner så långt natten bär för att sedan sätta undan sin mössa tills nästa Wapp. Den här tradition har tagit olika form genom tiderna men det här är ett koncept som har varit relativt lyckat senaste åren.

Hello again in this colorful autumn! One year has passed again and now it is time for Lilla wappen. Now you may wonder what that means exactly. Don’t worry I got you covered!
You may have heard of wappen or vappen, or May day in english. If you do not know about May Day you can read more on this site. Otherwise the chance to experience it may show up faster than you expect. The reason that I mention May Day so much is that they are related to each other. On May Day, we celebrate the beginning of summer and after the May Day celebrations, you have the right to wear your graduation hat. As the Swedish song goes Sommartider hej hej. A great song to listen to when summer comes around
However, the leaves are now yellow and it is time to cozy up and enjoy a nice warm cup of cocoa (preferably with a hint of mint…). When darker and colder times starts creeping up on you, it is time for Lilla Wappen or Little Walpurgis. Little Walpurgis is celebrated the last day of September to welcome the autumn. Usually we celebrate the festivities with a three – course meal. At the end of the evening the Chair of the Board of the Student Union gives a more relaxed speech and asks the students to put their hat upside down. This shows the inside of the graduation hat. The students will then wear the hat upside down as long as the night keeps going and after that they put the hat away until the next May. This tradition has taken different forms throughout the years, this form has been a working concept the last years.
